a(n)mrith ras sach a(n)mrith bolee gur poorai a(n)mrith leechai jeeo ||3|| The True Essence is Ambrosial Nectar; through the Ambrosial Words of the Perfect Guru, this Amrit is obtained. ||3|| Guru Raam Daas Ji, Raag Maajh, Ang 96
It has been my privilege to visit and pay my respects & bow my head to many shrines & places of worship. Each time I came across the arms, weapons and tolls used by The GREAT GURUS and the BRAVE Souls under their leadership; I have been fascinated.
ReplyDeleteWhat I find striking is most men/women of today would have difficulty in holding & lifting those Size - XL shastras... let alone handle them. And the Gallant Singhs used them with grace, efficiency, velocity, strength and vigor. I learned that Singh warriors were [and are] trained to use a weapon and practice & practice & practice until they reach the point when the shastar is no longer and object they hold in their hands. It is like a part of their body. Like their own arm or hand. This is the fundamental basis in all great and oldest martial arts. I'm aware of this because I am myself into Karate, Kickboxing and Tae Kwon Do.
For instance:
The chakar of His Greatness Baba Deep Singh Ji, is nearly of the size of a Car's steering wheel or Tyre. Now
- imagine Baba DEEP SINGH JI using his Khanda/Khadag [much bigger & heavier than a full size cricket bat] or Spear with one hand, chakar/shield with other, at the same time managing his horse, keeping an eye of his army, reciting chants & words of encouragement and dispatching Mughal/Islamic enemy soldiers at a amazingly fast rate.
Makes my head bow down further in honor.
See above picture. With due respect and no offense, it can clearly be seen on the face expression of the sewadar that its not a piece of cake to hold the Barshi... its costing a lot of effort. Had me or somebody else been there in his place even they would have a hard time lifting the barshi for a long time. Infact my face expression would be worse....I might look as if I am constipated.
Amazing how the Great Ones used to fight with these with such grace, speed & strength...that one may think that they are dancing....i.e. doing something that's very simple and easy for them.
And the best part:
Despite such force & power, Our Gurus also gave the lessons of being humble, kind, tolerant, merciful, forgiving, gentle, noble, god fearing and being good & helpful to all.
Excellent example: Bhai Ghanayiya/Khanayiya Ji
